Simple racecar wiring
Can anybody show me a simple wiring diagram for my car. It is a 73 rx2 I want to wire it for:
battery keyed switch ignitors distributor coils alternator starter I want to make a wiring harness because this car has no harness, and I have been reading wiring diagrams for some time and still can't figure it out. I am going to start this thing on the stand before I put it back in the car. The motor is an 87 TII if that matters. I am locking out the distributor. Also, no DLIDFIS, just want to wire it up first. The thing that screws me up the most is the distributor and the coils and ignitors. Thanks to anyone that can help. Shawn |
The distributor also has the ignitors mounted on it . Thanks guys

Large Gauge cable from POS on battery to large lug on starter
Large Gauge cable from NEG on battery to ground - I like to run it to a bolt that holds the starter in. Large Gauge ground cable from Engine to Chassis. Ignition voltage to the POS side of coil. Wire from POS side of coil to the top of the "T" connection on ignitor. Wire from NEG side of coil to the vertical of the "T" connection on ignitor. Do the above for each coil and corresponding ignitor. Leading and Trailing. Wire from the alternator post to the positive side of the battery. Ignition voltage to the top of the "T" connection on the alternator. Hope this helps. -billy |
I am sure if I draw it out, it will make sense. I really appreciate your response, thanks. Shawn

There is suppose to be a small wire on the selenoid that goes to the keyed switch, and then to the + or the - side of the battery?
Sorry, but can you tell me which connectors on the ignitor you are talking about. Make it easy for me and just say left or right. Thanks, sorry for the hassle. Okay, obviously there is suppose to be a certain plug for the ignitor and I don't have one. Anything else I can do? |

Hello research Painless wireing kits(jegs/summit). They come pre-wired & labled, all you need to do is wire power to it & ground each component as needed. Hope this helps.

Okay, obviously there is suppose to be a certain plug for the ignitor and I don't have one. Anything else I can do? Look at the ignitor plugs. They have two male spade terminals. They form the shape of the letter "T", one horizontal terminal and one vertical. The horizontal terminal is the "top of the T" I mentioned. If you are standing on the drivers side looking at the distributor the ignitor to the front of the car is the leading, the ignitor to the rear of the car is the trailing. You do not necessarily need the plug, use female spade terminals. -billy |
Thanks a million man, I will be making this thing shortly....
