siezed engine rebuild questions

I have an '81 with a siezed engine. I want to drive this car so....I hate to be the cheap half-asser, but I'm stuck with being the low budget do-it-yourselfer.

What is the BARE MINIMUM that I will need to do to get this engine going? I plan to buy any recomended parts before I start, unless there are some "iffy" items that need to be inspected before replacement. I ask this while pretending my rotors and housings aren't too screwed.

The bare minimum would be a basic rebuild kit (www.atkinsrotary.com) which will be a few hundred at the minimum. The engine is locked for one of two reasons, oil starvation or carbon lock. If it is oil starvation you can count on at least replacing the eccentric shaft and having to replace all bearings (rotor & eccentric shaft). If it is carbon lock you may be able to get away without replacing anything, but I would be very surprised. If there is enough carbon in there to lock up a engine, it is usually enough to have scarred the rotor housing(s) and possibly the rotor up pretty bad. Good luck.

first, you need to find out why it has seized. if it is carbon locked, use atf for the fix. if is has been starved of oil, you will most likely need a completly new engine or a used engine at least. the core MAY be rebuildable, but the eccentric shaft, rotor bearings, and rotors themselves have probable suffered extensive damage. who knows, the rotors may have warped, due to excessive heat. i would say the first step would be to find out if it is seized or carbon locked.
