shipping a rotary engine
Any body have any suggestions for a shipping company. I am needing to ship a rotary short block engine from Florida to Illinois and the cheapest quote I can find is around $200. That is about $75 more than I am used to having to pay.
Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave |
try R&L carriers

Business to Business with www.gorlc.com(same place guy above is referring to) is probably about $125.00 right now. There is a $60.00 fee for residential pickup and another $60.00 fee for residential delivery. Try to take it directly to the terminal or ship from business to business.

$200 sounds cheap to me. I used both the carriers listed above and was charged nearly $320+ each time. They tack on sooo many fees it starts to get ridiculous at some point.
|
Yeah use R&L carriers. I just shipped my motor this week and it was 100 bucks one way.
|
Yea, the cheapest I found has been right at two bills.
|
R&L's online quote is $178.09, without being a residential pickup. I am trying to convince the seller to take it to a terminal for pickup, otherwise they will want an extra $50.

Negative! Use Greyhound! I shiped a motor and tranny from calli to florida for like $130 a few years ago...
Yes, Greyhound as in the buss... |
I went to the Greyhound site, and it said 100 lbs max. A bare block rotary is going to be closer to 200 than 100. I don't think that is going to work.

Wierd, I shipped a honda motor and transmition through them before, maybe they chainged thier policies?
