Sealing Surfaces and Sensors
 

Hello RX7Club! It's been a while.

I decided to get the manifolds powdercoated a shiny silver, but the shop I sent them to blasted the sealing surfaces as well. I've never dealt with media-blasted items, so I've no idea what to do. So far, I have a long hand sander, a variety of sandpapers of different grits, paper gaskets, and some Gasgacinch. If someone could help point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I've been trying to figure out what sensor I managed to destroy this time. I think it's a coolant temperature sensor. It came out from the back of the engine block on the driver side between the oil filter pedestal and what I think is the oil pressure sensor. I'm also certain it came out with a crush washer of sorts, but it's been ages since I yanked it out.

coolant sensor..and that wire will come off the top of that sensor too as the sensor has a male bullet type connection.
try this: carefully put a flat screwdriver between the plastic and the Brass "hex"..turn the screwdriver slowly sideways to separate..the wire connection should pop itself off the sensor.(the wire of course has a female bullet type connection)

Use RTV on either side of the gasket. I prefer Permatex Ultra Grey.

....the thought of prying that bullet connector off makes me cringe. The plastics in this car are terrifyingly temperamental. Just as bad as my grandfather, and probably just as old.

And my apologies for the late reply, school has been quite hectic lately. I think I'll be ordering the coolant sensor from Atkins, using some fine grit sandpaper on the manifolds, put on some sealant and call it a day. Thanks for the help!
