RX7 problem

Well this is my first Rx7 and also my first car and i'm having some problem.
1st problem: Cant pass smog because CO is too high. He also said that, that is because too much fuel is going into my engine and recomend that i change the O2 sensor but im not sure if that is the problem.
2nd Problem: My car kept on overheating on me after about 20 minute. I think it was the radiator but not so sure. when i check the radiator was hot and the water revisor well get overflow.
3rd problem: when i turn on ignition it take about 1 to 2 second for the car to get the engine started. i was wondering if its normal for a 86 RX7 to do that and also after it started, the rpm immediately rev to almost to 3000 rpm then come back down to idle at around 750 rpm. i was wondering if this is normal or not.
Any tip would help alot. Thanks

What is the difference between a test pipe and a cat converter. would the test pipe pass smog. And also would the test pipe be better then the cat.

To have ANY chance of passing emissions you MUST have a new o2 sensor and all converters installed and air pump (unless you have a special metallic core converter that doesn't use an air pump, but you should still have it for the visual test if they do that in your area)
a test pipe is a straight pipe and converter is a emissions they are very different you will NOT be able to pass emissions with a test pipe, i suggestyou install your converter if you dont have any . you can purchase some bolt on ones for cheap on ebay or have you local custome shop simply weld up a universtal cat w/ a pipe for you to install for emissions.
your coolant is boiling over. this is not good. i hightly suggest you check your thermostat and all radiator caps. then see what happens, if still boiloing over change your radaitor and install an aftermarket coolant gauge so you can figure out what the heck is going on (stock gauges are garbage)
when starting up an rx7 its normall for it to rev up to 3k rpm but it normally stays there for a little bit unless you "blip" the throttle then it should go down to normals rpms, this is the accelerated warm up system, on many cars this is disableed because it cause extra wear on the engine on startup but like i said you can just "blip" the throttle and itll be turned off. i have this function removed on both my 2nd and my 3rd gen. :ylsuper:

i meant replace the tstat and radiator caps not just check them these replaced will cost you less than 20 bucks.

Well i just took my car for a test drive today. Here's my result: the temp on the cars raise when i stop on traffic light alot but when i drive on road where theres no traffic the temp on the car goes down to where it should be just below half way. Could it be my radiator.

could be your fan too. i have electric ones, and if i forget to turn em on (i have a manual switch), my car will be cool driving, but rapidly heat up when im stopped.

but when i get home and open the hood i hear the coolant boiling. is that a normal things for rotary to boil like that. i hope you guys get what im trying to say. im just 16 years old and i dont really speak english so it hard for me to translate it in english.

yea well my suggestion to you is to do an electric fan conversion which will cost you like 50 bucks and be sure to check your sensor, bc i had that it some of my cars (have an rx7 fb and fd, integra, accord, and a Z) that happened to my integra bc the fan kept dying on me so i replaced it so check that one

If anything i ran one of my FC's without a thermostat and a electric fan about a 16". Not alot of people would recommend that but it did keep my FC cold all the time.
