running lean

i posted this in the second gen forum but got no response. the 91 listed in sig

ok ive had some lean problems for a while and have checked and gone through somethings and still no luck. heres what ive done so far

1. replaced all coils, spark plugs and wires
2. replaced intank and engine bay fuel filter
3. replaced o2 sensor
4. checked for vac leaks
5. verified injectors are working (now that the correct secondaries are in their whole other side story on that one)

now i just noticed today that the incorrect bac valve is installed on it. dont ask my why. i bought this car from a moron that should never touch a car again. from having the wrong driveshaft, ecu, afm, pressure sensor, injectors, and list of other stuff ive replaced it was a question how the hell this car ran in the first place.

compression is 85 in front and 95 in back. whats left to check? when i first start the car it starts rich but once the car warms up it goes very lean.

Temp sensors might be lying to your ecu. That could cause the problems you say you're having. You have one for water and air temps, either one could screw things up.

Edit... Sorry you already did what i was going to say...
Next time i'll read over more careful.. haha

I just sent out my injectors to RC Engineering for cleaning and balancing. Their analysis showed that they were on average 35cc below spec, and the spray patterns were fair to good, with one "dripping". They now flow at spec, with "excellent" spray patterns. That's one thought. Also, Had you made any adjustments to the PIM voltage?

RotaryBuddha 09-26-05 06:41 AM

whats pim voltage? is that something only on 3rd gens?

Old Slow Coach 09-26-05 08:42 AM

I don't think it's unique to 3rd gens. Adjusting this voltage allows basic fuel injection correction by correcting the voltage at specified RPM. From my Power FC handheld, I cannot change my basic fuel injection map, but I can modify the RPM and pressure sensor voltages by a few points to alter the a/f ratio.

i dont have a power fc or any type of fuel controller right now. i want to get this car working before i drop 300 for a controller.
