rough running

hey guys

I just bought a 88 T2 with 119xxx original miles on the engine. when i bought it, it woundn't start,....so i changed the battery drained the old gas, put 93 High test, put new plugs and threw in some 2 cycle oil. i had to disconect the fuel pump to get the thing to turn over and reconnect before it would die. after that i got the car running it ran pretty good at about 1500 rpm for about 20 mins. then it idled down to about 600 rpm and began missing very badly and alomst died. the compression of the front rotor is 75 psi and the rear is about 80 psi
can someone give me some pointers on what could be wrong
and how to fix the flooding problem
if the car didnt flood it would start everytime im sure but the rough running im not to sure about

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

is it safe to assume that the car sat for a long time since you mentioned getting rid of "old gas"? perhaps you should have the injectors checked, see if they are gummed up or sticking.

Well, there a few more basic things you can do before going outside your box. I'd replace wire, spark plugs, fuel filter and than get the injectors check after you've done some of these basic things.

im going to pull the injectors this week
do you guys recomend new factories or something after market?
also do you think there could be a problem with the coolant temp sensor?
