rotory questions

ok im a tottal newb to the rotory but have some questions. The motor is in a sandrail and and we are haveing som problems with it, first the motor is eating up dizzy caps for some reason and we cant figure out why its doing it any ideas? second what is the fuel pressure for a stock motor supposed to be with a carb? thx for the info

As I recall stock fuel pressure is 4-6psi. If its in a rail ya might want to consider ditching the stock Nikki for a Sterling Nikki or another carb.

As for the dizzy, what else are you running for ignition? NGK plugs? Stock coils??

Rotary. One O, one A.

it's probably a 12A motor. :)

PM Sterling or Rx-7Carl on this board for info on the carbies.

Hrmm. My first thought was that you were using some sort of bagillion volt aftermarket coil that was burning them out.

If you keep roasting them, you may just want to switch to direct fire. Go to the First Generation section and look in the FAQ or do a search and look for the 2nd gen direct fire coversion. Basically you scrounge an ignition coil and controller from a 2nd generation RX-7 and use that instead of the distributor.

Experts: Would it matter what year of coil hes using? If its an older SA motor with a mechanical distributor or a newer FB motor with the electronic distributor.
