rotors on esentric shaft
for off im a piston guy, but my bro is getting my into the wankel motors, and im just curious as to how the rotors are bolted, mounted, or stay on the esentric shaft. pictures would be nice too. also is there any diagrams or cut a ways of a 13b or 20b motors? thanks

There is a huge bearing journal on the eccentric shaft, and the rotors turn on that (one journal per rotor). The rotors have a gear with internal teeth on them that mesh with a stationary gear that is attached to the side housing. That is how they stay oriented in the right direction as the eccentric shaft turns.

so how does the rotor get on the shaft? does it just slide on? if it just slides on how does it keep from moving left and right? and my guess would be that there would need to be lubricant inbetween the teeth, correct? thanks

Slides on during installation...
It is sandwiched between "side" housings to keep it in place. To keep it from spinning on it's own, there are gears called stationary gears that keep it in check.  Stat gears are located one on front side housing and one on rear side housing. Oil lubrication is pumped through the center eccentric shaft.  There are oil jets located in the e-shaft journals that let the oil go from the center, e-shaft to the rotor bearings. -Ted |
