Rotor housing condition question
4 Attachment(s)
So I picked up the parts to build a 13B for my FD. I have a quick question about my housings. A guy on here does resurfacing but hasn't replied to me yet but before I waste time and money, do these even need to be resurfaced? Thanks in advance.
P.s. Should I replace the rotor bearings since the motor is apart? I don't see any copper but I figure why not. And I noticed some minor rust on the inside of the rotor. Will parts washer take care of it or is there special action that needs to be taken? |
Need a closeup picture of the edges , to see howmuch wear from the corner seals there is

Refinishing may help the chatter marks but the chrome flaking along the tip seal edge new the exhaust port is enough that if you want the build to last or for anything more than stock power levels I wouldn't consider using these in anything but a beater shortblock.
Also any cracking around the spark plug hole? FWIW, crispy |
+1, the chatter marks look bad enough that i wouldn't run those housings as is either.

Does anyone know what problems will chrome flaking at the edges of the housings as pictured causes? Particularly on a high HP build?

Thanks very much for replies. I will either find good condition used ones (talking to Crispy about potential ones) or just buy new and be 100% safe. I mean this is my first rotary build ever and I dont want to hate rotary because I neglect a part and it blows up. I also have more questions and I dont want to start a new thread.
1. Does the eccentric shaft need to be machined or anything? Pics below. Seems good condition but not sure since you would have a crank machined when rebuilding or at least polished. 2. The pic below is the rotor I was talking about. It has rust down inside. Will this be a problem? I cleaned the outsides and they are good (no rust) but the inside on this one has me concerned. The guy I got these from had them on a shelf (oil coated) so not sure how they got rusty. Maybe the owner before him? |
