Rotating Squeal Help
 

Hi everyone.

I'm having a hard time figuring out where this noise is coming from.

Car wasn't making this noise a few months ago and gradually started till it's come to this point. It sounds like a grinding and squealing while I am applying brake pressure.

Here is a video. Any advice guys?

Brake pads have lots of life on them. New engine, clutch, diff mounts.

I edited the video to trim it down to the problem area. If it is a long video then it starts at 42 seconds.

Just had les schwab check it out and they can't see anything wrong with the rear pads. They did recommend having the rotors surfaced but it was kinda a we aren't sure but why not kinda thing.

Take a look at the rotors for any uneven wear especially at the outer edges.
If you take a hammer and chip off any rust that you can see it may help.
For the price of having the rotors turned you can get a decent set of replacement stock rotors.

Personally I don't fix my brakes by taking material off the rotors to make them adhere to the pads better.My thought is why make the rotor thinner when you can get new ones that are thicker and in better shape..!

The spring that keeps the pads from rubbing on the rotor was hanging by one pad. I didn't think that would have been the cause but I placed the spring back how it should go and the grinding stopped. Now my abs pump won't turn off lol.

get under the car and spin the wheels by hand. its clearly speed related not engine revv related, so that means its outside the trans.

check you axles and driveshaft

Thanks! I will look into how to check that out. I've given the wheel a spin before and I couldn't detect the noise but I may not be checking it right. Google is my friend :) thanks for help.
