Rotary water temp range?
 

What is the safe water temperature operating range for a rotary engine? Some guys tell me 180F to 190F, and some tell me 185F to 230F. Which one is correct?

I see a lot of people have viewed my question, but nobody has answered. Does this mean nobody in this forum knows what their rotarys should run temperature wise? Does anybody know? Please post if you do. Thank you in advanced.

its best to look at it in celcious. the tstat opens at 82c,
and normal running temp is about 85-95c. 105-110 is the point where you should turn it off, but you havent done any damage yet. i have good temp gauges on both n/a's and turbo rotaries and they all run in the same range.

So you are saying that the normal operating teperature under load is between 85c (185f) to 95c (203f)? And the maximum is between 105c (221f) to 110c (230f)? Isn't that kinda high for a rotary? Thanks for your reply. If anybody else agree or disagree, please post your comments.

I will jump in here. i think what has already been said is pretty accurate. What we are saying is that for every day driving and stuff the car should stay under 200. But if something goes wrong and the car heats up shut it off soon and if its at 220-230 but you catch it right away chances are there is not major damage done and you just need to address the problem and your good.
So 180-200 is normal.

Oh one more thing. If your car runs at like 210 or something then jsut play with it a little to get it down Mabe add some water wetter or get a better fan or flush your coolent etc. and then it should get down under 200.

Depends on where you live too. In the summer out here in Phoenix it is no problem to keep it about 95C or below on the highway but I am impressed with anybody who can run the A/C in stop and go traffic when it is 110 outside and keep the water temps below 100C.
