Rotary tuning principals? care to share some tuning secrets?

Hi all,

I have been searching around the Forum, but can't really find exactly what I am looking for. I'm sure the information is there - but I cannot find.

This is difficult to word, but hopefully you will understand where I am coming from...

(This is for a Turbo rotor)

1. Ignition Timing for leading and trailing, for standard ports, mild port, and full bridgeport for example. Just rough figures as inlet/exhaust port shapes and sizes can vary of course.

2. Injector opening and closing times based on the above port configs..

3. What about injector sizes, flow rates per hp?

4. Ultimate Lambda figures (I'll be using a MoTeC PLM wide band) and are these figures across the rev range etc.? I am assuming that the basic principal would be to have the figures similar no matter what type of port, power is produced?

5. EGT's - would be similar to above? is there a perfect temp to aim for across rev ranges, and again would the basic principal be the same no matter what type of port, power is produced?

Thanks very much in advance, hopefully this thread will sort itself out as responses come through.

PM BDC. He has good knowledge of standalone units and tuning them.

Thanks rotarygod - have now done-so.

1. I don't know about the timing, sorry:)

2. This will be very difficult because there are all kinds of different setups. The times will be different with the injectors they are running, fuel pressures, fuel pump flow rates, etc.. If you can get the free Haltech software and then get a bunch of peoples maps and look at them:)

3. Dig around on google because there are HP calculators out there which tell you the flow rates. I think www.teamfc3s.org has one. www.rx7.com might also.

4. This is also variable but the majority of people will say 11.3-12.0 at WOT and 14.7 for cruising.

5. The only real way to tune by EGT's would be to first grab a wideband and then compare the temps to their respective EGT's. They can vary with the placement of the sensor, the type of sensor, etc.. I am sure there is a post out there about what some people think though.
