Rotary Aviation Masters Rebuild Kit

im thinking about doing my own rebuild (1990 FC TII)....still debating on whether to get the Rotary Aviations Master Kit or the Atkins Overhaul C but ya. I was just wondering why exactly the RA Masters Kit costs around $350 more than the basic kit when it only has corner seals, oil pump chain, and the rotor oil seal set. Maybe i dont realize that it actually cost that much or something...but it just doesnt seem right. I tryed searching and came up with a BUNCH of stuff and didnt really see anything on this exact question...so give me a break and dont tell me to search more. So if anyone can give me info about the masters compared to the basic and maybe which kit (RA or Atkins) you prefer, please post! One more thing, would there really be anything else i would need for a good complete rebuild even if i had 1 of those kits?

I prefer stock Mazda parts.
If you change EVERYTHING that Mazda recommends, you end up with a $1,200+ bill for Mazda parts.

RA apex seals are $182 for apex seals AND springs (both short and long).
Atkins charges $40 per apex seal, times 6 and that's $240 with NO apex seals springs.

Now you can see where the price increase comes from.

from the searching & reading I've done...it would prbly be cheaper for you to tear down the engine first, figure out what can be reused (i.e. oil pump chain) then buy the parts you need.

I figure if the engine is in 1/2 decent shape, you can get the Basic Kit and save yourself money
especially when the parts you replace with the Master Kit do not need replacement

This is where rebuilding a rotary engine BEFORE it blows up is helpful. Doesnt hurt the wallet as bad.

rebuilding before it blows up is exactly what i had in mind. 120,xxx (somethin like that) and still running strong....but i dont wanna wait till it blows up first

I don't know if this is gonna help you much, but I'm gonna buy the RA apex seals and springs ($183), the RA o-ring kit ($157), and the RA installation gasket set for the manifolds ($48). Every single part I need after that is going to be bought from Mazdatrix. I have an ENTIRE list typed out, and not only am I going to get more parts, but I will be saving a few hundred dollars!!! For the cost of the RA master kit, I'm able to buy everything I absolutely need for my rebuild and installation!!! It took alot of researching, but it was sooooo worth it!!!
