REbuilt 13B wont start
 

Hey y'all I'm reaching out because I am out of hope. I rebuilt my 13B engine after cracking an oil galley in the rear iron. The engine had been rebuilt around 60K miles ago so I reused hard seals and just overhauled the gaskets.
When I spin the engine with plugs out it makes three spsh noises hopefully that is compression.
I screwed up along the way and lost track of TDC on my timing pulley... followed Jeff20B's instructions and I am fairly certain timing is set correct now...

Here's my question: When I turn the key to 3/4 or Acc the fuel pump primes but doesn't turn off like normal, I am wondering if that is flooding the engine preventing it from starting?
Could a dirty/broken MAF leave my fuel pump on full time, flooding the engine?
Also, if the fuel pump is on full time when the key is turned, wouldn't that potentially overload the injectors with fuel, flooding the engine?

You have a relay located below the dash and to the right of the steering column. It is Black and Yellow and has five wires in all. The Blue wire feeds voltage to the fuel pump. If the Blue wire has voltage w/key to ACC or to On then there is something wrong either w/the relay or the wiring feeding the relay.

if your injectors are clean(they should be!) then the pump could run all day and shouldn't cause any flooding issues.

I decided to take my 7 to the shop for the first time ever! the mechanic suggested it could be a stuck relay causing the fuel pump to stay on at 3/4.

RotaryEvolution, I agree with you about the injectors. It seems they could be opening/closing improperly. The next test I planned to do was for leaky injectors.

My best guess other than a relay or injectors is that some electronic is stuck or broken, I did test the resistance of my AFM before taking the car in, thinking it might be broken, but AFM is up to spec.
Thank you both for the replies, I was getting really nervous about buying a new car and not having my RX-7 but I decided I would rather throw more money at the RX-7. :lol: must be the balance... or the brap... or maybe its the body...

Anyways, in case anyone has issues with fuel flooding their rebuilt engine or a fuel pump being stuck on I will update this thread with what it takes to fix once the shop calls. Thanks again for your time!!!
