Rebuild costs?

how much money does it usually cost to rebuild a rotary engine? is it fairly cheap since ive heard its pretty easy to rebuild a rotary or expensive since there arent much mechanics that can rebuild them?

Parts are up the ass. If we're talking Mazda OEM stuff and ALL seals and gaskets replaced, it's getting close to $2,000. Labor starts at $1,000 and goes up...

Just had my 2gen GTU rebuilt by Rotorsports Racing in Kanapolis, NC. I had a stage 2 rebuild with street porting and this totalled about $4200, parts & labor. Their stage 1 rebuild runs about $2K plus labor of about $1k if all major components are useable.

Damn, rebuilds r 1000+ bux! Hmmm..... should I rebuild my 200k NA engine or buy a Turbo 2 Motor w/ ECU, harness, etc. plus tranny for 800? Hm.....:p:

would be cheaper to just buy a new motor.... camp on ebay or somethin. going to a u-pull is gettin expensive because there in such high demand.........
im in the process of gettin new motor

hmm really... u always thought that a new engine would cost more, so how much do u think a new motor would cost?

i'd say abotu 3-4k including labor

Would it be possible to rebuild my 12a myself? It seems to be in perfect working order, but I'm going to be doing a stretport on the secondaries, and putting a PP on it (all myself)

I can get the gasket set for £100 (I think that was the price) and IF I need/want them, I can get some Apex seals that allow 700% more flex, and are 35% stronger than stock for £160-ish

Whate else need doing/replacing to rebuild it?

I can do rebuilds anywhere from $1-2000 depending on specs, year/model, damage, and whether you send me just the block, the whole motor, or the whole car.

Check out www.rotaryresurrection.com for more info.

You must be talking about the rotaryaviation seals. If your engine is high mileage, I would send the side plates off to a rotary performance shop to have the side plates lapped for smoothness. This will help with compression. Check mazdatrix. They have prices for these services. Rebuilding the engine isn't hard at all. It just takes some time get everything cleaned and ready for reassembly.
