real noob needs advice :]
 

hey, first of all im new to this forum and ill start by saying i dont know anything at all about rx's...
ive been saving up some $ and i really want to get an FD, but my friend who actually has one told me its impossible to get a FD as a first car because i would have no idea what to do from all the maintainence and engine problems. he says rx's in general have a lot of maintenence problems and you have to be somewhat of a "rx7 pro" to own a FD. i can handle normal maintainence like oil change and etc., but when it comes to engines breaking down and coolant seals melting and stuff i'd be clueless what to do. should i not get a FD and get a FC first, or should i just forget about getting a rx7 as a first car? and if i were to get a FD, what kind of problems would i be facing? thanks for your help i appreciate it. :)

Well, I can say that if you really want the car then buy it, everything else comes after that. FD is a just a car among many others, altought it requires a bit more attention than you normal daily driver but you don't have to sacrifice any virgins etc. to gods to keep it running. What you don't know can be learned and asking from people who have already done it.
I just got my FD and a whole new world to learn, even though I have been playing with cars for about 15 years now but nothing I can't learn or do. If you can do the normal maintenance it'll keep your car in condition and slowly you can start with those thing that require a bit more skills. Nobody is born with a spanner in their hands.

I can't say getting a FD for a first car is a good idea. They really do take alot of work to keep them in order. Not to mention they are a never ending money pit and I am pretty sure young people don't have the money to maintain them properly not to mention its a bit too fast of a car to learn on. If you are dead set on getting one start searching the forums and reading up on what they are all about. At the end of the day its your decision.

My FC was my first car, while not an FD Jelousy was a big issue at school, some people said that the reason I was so quiet was because I had a 7 and thought I was better or something.
