Re-wrapping electrical harness

I went and unwrapped my old electrical harness so I could fix all the bad wires, and I was wondering about the best way to re-wrap it. The tape that everything was originally wrapped in was some kind of fiber tape, but it was in pretty bad shape. So how hot does it get under the hood - should I use regular PVC electrical tape, which is good to 80 degrees (C) or so, or should I spring for some high temperature fiberglass electrical tape?

Regular hardware store electrical tape will go to hell in under 6 months.
The heat and exposure to oil/gas/solvents are death on it.
When I redid my Z I found this soft orange wrap that literally melts to itself after a few days and leaves a waterproof coating.
Can't remember the name but maybe someone else is familiar with it.

Shrink wrap looks ultra clean and you can get it in almost every color as well as a variety of heat tolerances. Its fairly cheap as well. Summit, harbor freight, and Whitneys all sell it. I think you may even be able to get it at home depot.

Self Fusing Silicone Tape seems to be the way to go. Thanks for a push in the right direction.
