quick advice needed
 

2300cc 1985 rx7 with carb not injection. would it be a rotary engine??? advice needed asap

At a guess, I'd wonder if it was converted to a Ford 2300 cc engine (aka Pinto, Focus, Tempo). A 13b is 1.3 litres. Not sure about the 20b, but if each rotor is the same size as the 20b (and I think they are), then it would be around 2 litres.

If the 13b is 1300cc or 1.3liters, and the 12a is 1200cc and 1.2 liters, wounldnt the 20b be 2000cc and 2 liters?

Isn't that what I just said? However the 12a displaces 1.0 litres, not 1.2 The number (e.g 12a) has no relationship to the engine size.

A 13b displaces 1.3 litres. Its something like 654cc per rotor. I'm pretty sure the 20b is the same as three 13b rotors, which would come to something like 1962 cc (2.0 litres).

Really? I thought the number specified size. I was evidentaly wrong. so what displacement is the 10a (or 10b or whatever it is)? Is it not 1 liter?

Mazda production engines follow a fairly simple numbering system. The numbers roughly indicate rated displacement in liters times ten (13B = 1.308L, or 1308cc), though sometimes a bit optimistic (12A = 1146cc), and the letter indicates a significant design revision. The first Mazda rotary cars were powered by 10A engines, while subsequent rotaries were either 12As or 13Bs (of numerous varieties). Outside the US, Mazda even produced cars around the 3-rotor 20B, in twin turbo form. Virtually all Mazda rotaries, from the 10A to the 20B, share the same internal dimensions save chamber width. For 10As, the chamber width was 60mm, resulting in 982cc (0.982L) displacement. 12As had a 70mm wide chamber, giving them 1146cc. 13Bs and 20Bs both have 80mm wide chambers, producing 1308cc and 1962cc, respectively.

I THOUGHT the 12a was 1.0 litre. My bad. Evidently the memory ain't what it used to be....
