Question on mazdaspeed twin plate clutch?

Would anybody know the original (new) thickness of the clutch disc (total of pad to pad of one disc) on the mazdaspeed twin disc clutch for the RX7 FD model??
I want to rebuild mine to original spec's
or even if someone here has a set for sale A and B plate set

Holy thread revival,
But do you have the measurements for what the new pad-to-pad thickness should be please?
Have a used one here but have no idea what its like in terms of life expectancy!
Many Thanks

Revival again, I have the same twin plate clutch and i need new discs for it. Does anyone knows where to find them?

isnt the mazdaspeed clutch just a rebadged Exedy?

joffrey 01-22-12 05:56 PM

Indeed, it is, but it is impossible to find the correct reference for replacement parts. I will give a call or send a mail to Exedy this week to get some news.

Here is the guilty:

The friction pads are close to 1mm thick. I will take measurements tomorrow, but what worries me the most is that the friction plates are blue at some places and I wonder if i should change them or it it is ok. The clutch has never slipped during gear change but when I see the blue friction plates, I am a little concerned.

Having both infront of eachother the Mazdaspeed disks are larger infact. One is has springs and the other does not where as the Exedy has both springs. Thickness from memory is the same 4mm when new.

Anybody knows if spare parts are still available?

dradon03 01-27-12 03:29 PM

They are discontinued and a set of the last clutch plates when locally according to what I understand however, seening as Daikin makes the discs shouldn't be impossible to find a replacement in their product line.
