Propane questions

Has anyone ever tried running propane instead of gas, like with the complete propane system?, i know that my father runs it in his stock gas powered trucks, and propane has a higher octane level (105) then gas so more boost!

isnt that usually only for diesel applications?

Conundrum 4000 06-22-04 09:40 PM

many people think that but propane can be used with basicly anything

I've heard of diesel trucks using propane injection to give it some juice.

He's talking about a complete Propane conversion, like he wants to stop using gas, not just propane injection. As far as if will give you a Hp increase I dout it. Propane burns real clean, it can be used inside and not put off harmful fumes. Some indoor heavy duty equipment run it, such as fork lifts and such.

Look up 4Wheel magazine and get the uhh march or april issue from this year. They converted a trail rig to propane with good results. There are kits, but it is just getting out of the DIY stage.

Propane doesnt have as much energy in it as gasoline. In general you lose power when switching to propane.

What I've seen shows about the same power or a slight increase. It is also much more efficient at nearly the same power levels.

Its all how you use it ;) Propane injection is about to get big i think. I have noticed a bunch of random questions lately everywhere.

Bulldog makes a vapor system for cars. It allows you to run higher boost on 93 octane gas. With the mix it is ~105 octane..

I want to work on a true liquid system for cars. :)

yeah its less powerful than gas but its 110 octane rating lets you run higher boost and run more advanced ignition timing
