Probably a Simple 13B Question
Can you take a 86-88 or a 89-91 13B NA and strip all of the electronics and Fuel injection off of it and run it as a standard carburated engine?
This would eliminate needing the ecu or any other sensors, right? I would like to run a rotary in a Lotus, but not have to deal with the electronics associated with the newer cars. Emissions is not a concern in my area. Thanks in advance for the info. |
yes i thing you can carburated.. when you install a supercharger you have to make it carburated...

yes u can put a carb on any engine that is normally fuel injected. If u have a hard time finding the carbed intakes for the 6 port, u can use a 4 port intake and get the adapter that allows a 4 port intake to be used on a 6 port engine.

Mazdatrix now sells 6-port Holley intake manifolds.
|
I've seen intakes for 6-ports on ebay that will let you use and IDA carb. Used Racing beat setups are available on ebay and www.thepartstrader.com. All the formula Mazda open wheel cars are using carbs on a spec 6-port engine.

What kind of lotus? model? year? mid engine or other and hpw are you planning to get the engine to hook up to the stock lotus tranny?
|
Lotus Model
It is a 74 Europa Special. With a Kennedy Engine Adapter I can mount it up to a Porsche 901 transaxle from a 914. Others have done it. I am just getting ready to go for it.
|
Sure can. Racing Beat and Mazdatrix both sell a 6-port kit to put a Holley Carb on a 13B.
Your only problem with deleting the EFI is going to be lighting the ignition. You'll probably want to find a 1st gen distributor/ignition setup. Best of luck! Remember to post the pictures of your project when you get a chance. |
One more thing, where in PA are you located? East or West?
|
I am in East PA, Quakertown to be exact. About 45 mins South of you.
Went to school at PSU Hazleton a few years back. |
