powder coating
O know there has been a few threads on the subject but the best one i can find thats the least bit definitive hasnt been touched since 2004, i didnt really feel like bringing that thread back from the dead so...
I am im the process of having several hot section components ceramic coated, i also want to have several other engine parts powder coated, compressor, uim, lim, tb, front cover, water pump housing, alternator, etc. So the real question im wanting a verdict on is, the rotor housings. can it be done or is it recomended i have several engines i can use as donor or test subjects. responses are appreciated. Technical or suggestive, personal experiances good/bad anything that might help me draw a conclusion on this subject. engine is a 2nd gen 13bt |
I've powdercoated my entire shortblock myself , housings, irons, front cover & oil pan even tension bolts ( just take a look in my album). you just have to make sure not to coat any mating surfaces, so alot of masking is involved. I've haven't had a problem and this motor has been in my car for 4 years. The motor looks real noice when it was out of the car but since its been in the car you really can't see it, unless your changing the oil.

I did it all myself it was alot of work but worth it, even though no one can really see it.
