possible totaled rx8 is it worth it??

i just recently crashed my rx8 thanks to a awsome deer mixed with icey weather the car may be totaled i have 2 questions.
IF THE CAR IS TOTALED
1.would it be worth it to keep the car and get a rx7 body(friend has a fc with everything but the engine good shape no rust.) and do a renisis swap on the car.

2. or should i sell all the parts i can off of my rx8 and just get a older motor.

btw i do not want a power house rx7 the max that i would ever really want is 300 and that would be loooong down the road after i upgraded all of my suspension and made the car look perfect or close to it. i would be very happy with the 238 hp the renisis has in it.

i technically do have the expensive parts to do the swap aka the rx8 with a fully intact and perfectally running renisis and drivelines. but i am sure it would still take alot of money to get the car to run good(unless the car just needs the rx8 ecu? i never looked up what is needed for it, i will try to find it on this fourm i am sure it is.)

either way i will be making a track/street cruiser(notfwd if any of you know them) i go to there meets alot and plan to keep doing so.
thanks for the info in advance and i am terribly sorry if this post wasted any of your guys time.

i'd be much more fun to put a 13bt in a rx7,
you'll go crazy trying to wire a renesis and all the electronics in,

At a salvage auction it will bring about 25% of clean wholesale. You can make more than that parting it out yourself. If you have a project in mind yourself, the stuff is worth keeping. As for what you have in mind, it will really depend on your skills. Look into what the renesis needs to run and be honest with yourself.

If the car is totaled, let them pay you the full amount and buy a new one.

I think he is talking about a buy back from the insurance company.

Umm, wouldn’t he need to just get like, a megasquirt for an FC, and make a custom engine harness for all the sensors going to the Renesis?

Since it's an old car, the emissions (in most places anyway) can go, as well as crap like cold start assist, power steering, air conditioning, etc etc etc. So much crap that can be simplified!

What I don’t get is, a lot of Honda swaps require a lot more wiring than the Renesis to FC ever will, and yet they are still considered "easy" take the K20A swap into a Honda FIT for example, mucho wiring needs to be done, but it's so fun when it's actually running!

I think that personally, the guys who say it's too hard are just too lazy, but then again, having a good shop around for help would not hurt in case you get stuck.

EDIT: There has been a LOT of threads like this, but all anybody ever agrees on is that it's too much effort, to $$$, and that it’s not worth it. I just want a good race shop to show why "it can’t be moderately easily done" or for somebody to do it to shut everyone else up. There are a lot harder swaps than this, take that Toyota twin turbo V-8 they put in the new Scion XB, and even converted to RWD.
THAT is a hard swap that isn’t worth it, and a Renesis into an FC is NOTHING in comparison, especially when you already have the engine, and the donor chassis right there!

Besides, he just needs to drop it in, and have it run, not even trying to get power out of it, or do anything crazy. This makes me think:

Engine mount compatibility:
Possible custom mounts. No sweat, easy shit, everybody does that, just that a lot of rotary guys don’t seem to like the idea of not having engines bolt up, and thus don’t recommend the 13B-REW swap into the FC either, but then, If you can get a V-8 in there, a Renesis in a "no shit" thing.

Computer compatibility issues: may not be able to use the stock ECU, hard, new wiring, hard, yada, yada, yada...

As said: Ok, gut all that shit, and get a standalone? I think that unless there is some hard core proof that it's impossible, then, people are just thinking way too much.
