Plug wires and ignition coil

dammit, I keep forgetting if the L1 on the ignition Coil box goes to the front rotor or not.

So is L1 front and L2 rear

or L1 rear and L2 front.

on my second gen the L1 is back and L2 is front

I believe that leading coils are siamesed, which means, technically it doesn't matter. The trailing wires do, however.

Whoa whoa whoa

Whait a minute... I thought the first rotor the one closest to the radiator was number 1. If not then I have my trailing crossed. And leading.

What happens if you get the plugs crossed?

91vert 02-24-02 09:03 PM

OK.....now you guys have me wondering too. Somebody that really knows for sure please reply. I'm sure that both T1 and L1 are on the front rotor and T2 and L2 are on the rear rotor on my 7. Is this correct???

von 02-24-02 09:52 PM

Thats what im thinking. The front rotor is Number 1. But someone confused me on another post saying otherwise. Or mabey I read it wrong.

daveRX-3 02-25-02 08:59 PM

T1 and L1 are for the FRONT rotor, the one closer to the radiator, L1 and L2 are the rear. My experience has shown me that it's not a good idea to have this wires mixed up.

von 02-25-02 09:06 PM

Thats what I thought... shewww.

daveRX-3 02-25-02 09:16 PM

Need to correct my typing. L1 & T1 front rotor, L2 & T2 rear rotor. Try to type too fast.

von 02-25-02 10:00 PM

Ohhhh shiiiiit.

von 02-25-02 10:03 PM

Dude. Do u mean top to bottom. The top spark plug is the trailing ... its gota be , its just gotta.

von 02-25-02 10:34 PM

I just checked a site. The top is trailing like I thought.

daveRX-3 02-26-02 06:14 AM

The housings are stamped with a "T" & "L" . Top plugs are trailing, bottom ones are leading. Front rotor is #1, rear is #2

rx7passion 02-27-02 07:19 PM

1= front rotor 2= rear rotor trailing=top leading=lower easiest way i know of remembering.:)

hey hey HEY!!! We got ourselves a smart one!

whitekingsnake 03-02-02 04:06 PM

Ok guys hear is the answer.

The top plug hole on both rotors is the trailing and the bottom hole on both rotors is the leading.

T1 T2

L1 L2

The coil that is the closest to the bumper all by its lonesome is for the T1 plug.

Now you have two coils in the center, one on top of the other. The top coil is for L1 and the bottom coil is for L2.

The rear coil closest to the firewall all by itself is for the T2 plug.

Scott
