I removed the airbag from my wifes car when I took the steering column out. It wasn't an RX-7 but most airbags work on the same principle. Her car has three sensor in different positions in the front of the car. To compress 2 of the 3 sensors, you have to hit a solid object at or above X mph. This completes a circuit sending power to the air bag. This power ignites a dry chemical and the flash explosion produces gases that inflate the bag. When you remove the airbag, the bag and canister containing the chemical is one unit, with a wire harness attached. If I remember correctly, it only has 2 wires. Proceed at your own risk! What I would do is cut one wire, run it to a toggle switch, and there you have it. If you want to permenantly disable it, remove the wire harness.

Thanks.......just wondering if anyone has already done it on an FD and if they ran into problems, where the wiring is located, etc.........

TIA

dont put a toggle switch in the wires. the airbags are like small bombs, if your switch shorts out boom.
it would be much better to leave them alone, or take the whole system out.
