brake fluid...if it doesnt get on anything, and doesnt touch the paint of the car, and if yo'r not planning on repainting them...lol...someones going to yell at me for mentioning it

Yeah, brake fluid takes the paint off of anything.

well the block is apart and in my garage. So not worried about it touching the paint on my car, also how long would it take? should i let my housing soak over night?

since ur motor is apart i suggest renting a sand blaster. it will remove enerything for the block oil, paint, dirt, etc. the only downside is that urgonna have to get something to seal the metal so it wont rust.

the only thing that would just is the 2 iron plates. and if you properly impregnate them with oils they shouldnt rust. I have a v8 block that i beadblasted and i just used motor oil and a papertowel to rub it in and it's big in the garage for about 2 years with no rust
