Orientation of side piece in relation to minor chrome flake
 

I am putting my half bridge port together and I have some minor flaking on one of my rotor housings that has been somewhat sanded down. I was wonder if it would make a difference in how I orient the housing in relation to the side piece since both my side piece will be pointed toward the intermediate. By putting the side piece in line with the already worn section of the housing (flaking part) would it help the engine break in faster and have less blow by or should I try to preserve that area and thus put the actual seal on that portion? I've been comprehending this a while...

If half-bridge = BP only on secondaries, you need to flip the rear housing apex seals backwards.

The question is how to orient the housing with the chrome flake. I know what to do with the seals.

Um, you mean your housing can be used backwards???
Typically the groove is on the rear side of the engine.
I don't know how you got the housing to flip around...

Assume the engine is laying on the rear housing. The side pieces will both be facing toward the middle of the engine. That means if the flaking is on the bottom of the rotor housing it can be aligned either with the side piece or with the other side of the apex seal by switching the position of the rotor housing from front to rear.

Hmmm....certain 13B's can't be switched due to the EGR port, but I don't think you'd care about emissions at this point. :)

If that's the case, it really doesn't matter if you switch the rotors housings around...

lol. no emissions dont matter to me... just whether that side piece would be affected by the chrome flake

Its going to continue flaking, then you'll be rebuiding it again with new housing, so why not do it right the first time and replace the housing now

b/c every major rebuild company says its okay to use.
