OMP question
 

Going Standalone...Simple questions:

Should I get a standalone that can run the S5 OMP?
Should I ditch it and pre-mix (PITA)?
Should I get an S4 front cover and mech OMP?

Which is the BEST option? Please give reasons!!

ull get many diffrent answers with questions like that.. i prefer premix

All the local guys say pre-mix as well, but I was thinking of other options. I drive my FC as much as possible and don't want to get stuck without oil.

Was kinda thinking what the general consensus is.

order of my preference:

1. premix

2. mechanical OMP (refurbished or modified)

3. electronic control

I am still trying to decide what I want to do. I might just slap on an S4 front cover and what not and call it a day.

Premix is the best option if you want engine life. Premix is 'clean' oil as opposed to the crap that is recirculated from your sump. I had an idea to put an in-line fuel line oil feeder somewhere on the fuel line to premix for you, like those gernies/high pressure hoses that premix carwash and stuff. Need to research how they work though and hook up a brass setup to mimic such a hair-brained idea.
s4 front probably the easiest way to do it, but not accurate, as the lever that controls the OMP is controlled by the throttle (mechanical). At least with premix, you know you are getting exactly 100/1 or whatever you have been told to mix it.

Even if you get a s4 front housing and you don't like it, then just disconnect the mech. lever from your throttle and run premix. Then you have two of your three options. I don't know much about your third option (stand-alone oil feed). I guess you are getting clean oil, but the cost of an oil pump and a resevoir to hold the oil is probably the most expensive way.

I went premix for a while and got real sick of it real quick. So, I opted to install a OMP adapter and adjuster that pulls clean 2 stroke oil from a external reservoir. This also allowed me retain my S5 front cover.

But as you can see you have several options.

Adapter??? sounds workable. Where would one find one of these...Adapters?
