Oil temp/pressure on the fritz after oil change
 

1990 NA vert, streetport

I have had the car a few months now, drive it a little every day and am very familiar with it. Usually the the stock oil pressure gauge is 30@ idle and a little above 60 under 3/4 throttle. aftermarket oil pressure gauge stays at 80 all the time virtually and the aftermarket temp never got above 151 degrees. After I got the oil change (castrol 10w40 conventional), my stock oil pressure gauge idles aroung 45psi and the aftermarket oil pressure gauge drops to 19-20 sometimes now at idle though, and back to 80 under any throttle whatsoever. and the aftermarket temp gauge gets up to nearly 200 degrees now. it feels warmer under the hood than it had. I dont want to hurt the car; does this sound ok? what are normal operating temperatures/PSI and what should i stop the car for? I did search for it, but the search brought up too many random threads, and I couldnt get a good answer. any help is much appreciated

Where is your oil temp and pressure gauge?

80 psi all the time seems too high for stock, when warmed up it should be around 20 psi at idle. Stock gauge is known for reading like crap.

That was for the aftermarket gauge, the stock gauge now idles around 45 and under throttle goes to a little below 60. the location of the sending units for the aftermarket gauges are on a sandwich plate under the oil filter

also, driving for more than 5 min, the temp gets to 230

Your oil is getting waaaaaay too hot.

Check your thermostat and make sure you are routing oil to the oil cooler.
