oil regulator 1984 12a

Hey!

So I shimmed out my rear oil regulator and inserted an M5 washer. But, on the wrong end.. I didn't realize this until I welded in the split pin.
I only used one washer.
Will this increase the pressure too much or will it be okay?
I'm gonna say no because of the shape of the tip and the size of the spring diameter...

how much increase were you looking to get?

also, we're talking about the rear regulator, right? why didn't you just crush the end of it?

Sorry for the late reply...
I ended up taking the regulator back out and fixed it the right way. Went smoothly. I added two washer (1mm and .5mm). Pressure reads about 5.5 or 90PSI @ WOT.

I didn't want to bash it with a hammer because how would I know how hard to bash it? Heh :P

I wanted to do this mod because I am installing a custom racing beat exhaust and twin weber 36DCD carbs. Manifold, pre-silencer, PR extreme exhaust. 2.5" tubing from the manifold back.

P.S. The oil leak was actually coming from my OMP ... oops. It didn't have a proper seal.. I used a gasket sealant. I do not recommend!
