oil preasure
 

I just got my 87 FC TurboII. when i picked it up it got 0 boost and 0 oil preasure so i just figured the gauges were bad. it had plenty of oil and the engine held its temp well. as i got back to my home 600 mi away the boost gauge started reading boost(dont know why it took so long, probably just not driven in a long time) but the oil preasure remained 0. I think it has got to be a bad gauge because it wouldnt be able to run at a constant temp for 600mi w/no oil preasure.....would it?

The oil pressure switch could also be bad or the wires may have just come loose. If there was no oil pressure, it would have locked up in less than half a mile.

thats what i was thinking but im going from pistons to rotaries and my ignorance is showing.

well do a search in the 2nd gen section and there will be post after post of how to fix this or what the problem may be.

1. sending unit for the guage is disconected
2. sending unit is dirty, right under oil pedestal so it could have lots of oil caked on to it.
3. the wire that connects to the sending unit is disconected. real easy to do as the wire just slides off.
4. the ground to the sending unit is disconnected.

The best thing to do in this case is get an electrical oil pressure gauge, they are more accurate and since you are going to be spending the time and money anyways you might as well. If you have the money go ahead and get an aftermarket boost gauge as well as a dual a pillar gauge pod.
