oil pan leak!!
Hi I have a fd motor in a rx3 with a old style 13b front cover and pan. I have read and searched the forum for some tech support but I haven't been to successful. What have you guys done to fix this headache. Any and all suggestions welcome. THANKS IN ADVANCE..........

Is it cracked or leaking from where it mates to the engine or do you even know?
|
The thing is leaking from in between the motor baffle plate and oil pan.

DO NOT BLOCK OVER THE CRANKCASE BREATHER VENTS
peen back the sump holes on a block o wood and use a good RTV, no gasket needed be double sure you dont have pressure and vent flow issues by hooking one of them ( via catch can if desired ) to the aircleaner and the other to a rocker cover breather ( if you want to eliminate fumes...via one way valve flowing towards the filler neck ) this makes flow through ventilation at just under atmospheric pressure not rocket science.. but you would be surprised by the number of workshop "pros" that fail to understand the significance of the vents and the vacuum |
Since there are six large motor mount bolt holes on the rear iron of the 13b-rew, it is necessary to drill and tap two more holes for oil pan hardware to mount the GSL-SE oil pan. Did you do that?

I didn't but I will the motor was built by someone else. I have been researching and this is what I've told to do. Thanks for your input.

Here is a 13B-REW we installed in a FB. You can see the hole that needs to be drilled and tapped for the left side has plenty of area in the GSL-Se stock bolt location, the one on the right side need to be between the factory holes.
