Oil leakage
Hey guys quick question, do Rx-7's have a bad oil leakage problem? This is the second time my FD has leaked oil, and my motor is fresh, only about 3,500 miles on it. so just seeing if they tend to have leaks from the oil pan alot or something.
Thanks. |
from what I've been reading lately, it appears so - particularly the oil pan, if you use a gasket.
|
Really? Very interesting man. I do use a gasket is there an alternative to stop the leak?

Thanks dude. And so in other words these oil pans are trash.

So these oil pans are just trash?
|
It mentions build errors is it talking about the motor was assembled wrong or the pan was put on the block wrong?
|
Build errors mean either the pan was not torqued properly, or the builder didn't wait long enough for the sealant to cure. As Howard mentioned in his oil pan thread, you need to wait 24 hrs before filling the motor with oil.
There's also a chance you have a warped pan, in that case you'll have to replace it. |

Thanks all for the advice I appreciate it.

if you you use a very high quality silicone sealant and torque the oil pan properly it will not leak at all.
|
Ya that's another good idea.
