oil leak/dump

i had gone away for a while and had left my car in the hands of my friend and when i came back he told me all the oil leaked out of it so i cleand it up and put some oil in itand nothing came out turned on the car for a moment and all the oil i just put in was on the ground.... it all came out the front of the engine bay i'm pretty sure it is the oil cooler but not sure . anything else it could be?

You didnt post a year/model, but odds are it was an oil cooler line on a 2nd gen. The stock cloth lines start leaking a bit and finally just up and bust. This can cost you an engine in under 30 seconds. Rotaries are NOT tolerant to running the least bit low on oil...it normally holds 5-6 quarts when full, and as soon as you hit 3-3.5 quarts you can plan on permanent internal damage having been done.

Provided my assumption is correct, corksport sells SS braided replacements for $130, the best deal on the net...they will outlast the car, and are cheaper than new stock cloth lines.

it is an 86....na..... and i'm pretty sure you are right....does corksport have a web site? if so hook me up.... oh and how likely is it that the oil cooler itself is messed up? do you recomend i replace both or just try the lines first?

The oil cooler itself would not start spewing out oil on it's own unless it were hit by something. They do sometimes develop stress cracks at the fittings and leak slowly from there. IF you remove the underbelly tray from the front of the car, put it up on jackstands and then run it for a few seconds you should find the leak easily.
