Oil leak between rotor housings

My 84 rx7 has developed an oil leak between the rotor housings. i guess I haven't been driving it enough and the seals have gone dry. Has anyone tried using the bar's leaks oil conditioner?

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside, as we say for the 1st geners. I your leak is on the top of the engine, lefthand side, and the oil is puddling by the Mazda logo, it's the very common dowel pin leak. Some have had luck slowing down the leak using Lucas Oil Stabilizer and Bars, iirc. You don't state in your profile if you have the carbed 12A or the FI 13B engine, but dollars to donuts, it's a 12A. The 83-85 12A engines are particularly prone to this dowel pin leak because they have a beehive oil cooler instead of the front mount oil cooler every other rotary engine has.

The only 'cure' for the leak is replacing the dowel pin o-rings, which requires a rebuild. The leak itself isn't detrimental to the engine, other than the mess that it makes. If rebuilding, installing an fmoc is highly recommended. In my sig line is a link to a writeup I did on how to swap out the beehive for the fmoc. There is also a link to the online FSMs. carb manual and other rotary related reading. Download whatever you need and do lots of reading.
