Oil Help!!!!

I'm so confused, some say its ok to run synthetic, but wait, is it true synthetic? Some say "you are going to ruin your seals!". Castrol says it not recommended by the factory, but all the racers are running Castrol Synthetic oils. One guy said, "what ever you do, DON"T use Mobil 1". This is my first experience with a rotary, but I raced SCCA for years and always ran Castrol GTX 20X50 without a single engine failure. My question, can I run this oil in my 13B track car without any problems?
Thanks

I have also used gtx and havent had any problems, The reason why theres a "dont use syn" issue is because of the oil injection. Systhetic oil is made not to burn, with the oil injection system that is on the rotary the oil is injected as a normal part of operation and using syn oil will cause a build up of gunk in the housings and can cause the motor to lock up or carbon lock. If the oil injection is removed then you can run any syn oil you like, it wont cause any seal problems. Gtx is a natural oil and is totaly ok to use. Mobil1 is synthetic except for "clean 5000" or somthing like that, its the only non syn oil mobil1 sells.

well what if you have a turbo

does not matter if its turbo or not, its the oil injection system thats the problem with syn oils. If you remove the mop and go with premix then you can use any oil you want.

Thanks for the help. I have removed the MOP and will be using premix. 1 oz per gallon is what I've been told will work, do you agree with this ratio? Thanks again

I use lucas performance synthetic 2 cycle oil used in oil injection systems, its smokeless and ashless, very good product and pretty cheap from pepboys etc. Can be premixed to 100:1, leaves no gunk, does not fowl plugs, burns clean and has a fuel stabilizer. Look into it, It can be purchased from lucas in a larger amount. As a backup to mop injection add one 4-oz bottle per full 12 gallon tank, for no mop or straight premix run a ratio of 100:1, so 1.28 oz of oil per gallon or 4 oz of oil per 3.125 gallons of gas. Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll look for it next time at Pepboys.

i suggest you search on this topic. there are a few good detailed threads on the subject and quite frankly most people are tired of this discussion.

Good info... I have seen the Lucas at Pep Boys and was thinking of using it. I use Lucas products pretty often but have yet to try the 2 cycle. That will be next on my list for sure....
