oil cooler bypass
 

How can I eliminate the bypass in the oil cooler? I want the oil to flow through the cooler all the time. I'm thinking I can block the hole where the plunger sits, not sure. Thanks

im gonna go with just remove that assembly and install the bolt back????

No if you do that is will be in bypass all the time.

What is did to mine was tap it out then lock tite a round head allen bolt in . Be carful to get all the shavings out. I didnt even have to drill it I think I used a 3/8 bolt. After that you can remove the plunger and replace the bolt.

Why? this is a safety feature to ensure oil flow to your engine at all times... It is designed to bypass when the oil does not need to be cooled or when it is too cold to flow through the oil cooler passages... is this for a street or race?

Well, if you really feel the you absolutely have to hinder the flow of oil to you engine when it is cold (the bypass closes when oil temp is above approx 160* F ), then simply install two standard washers (I think those will be AN960-8 or go toyour local hardware store and find to fit), down into the recess of the cap bolt where the thermo unit sits, this shims up the unit and increases seat pressure (the same idea that you do to the front cover oil pressure regulator when you install a high pressure unit in the rear housing), this will still allow the bypass to work a little for the really cold temps to prevent oil starvation but will still force more of the oil through the cooler...
