Oil Burn and Idle issue

First let me say I am a Pushrod Ford guy (3.8, 4.9, 5.0 and FE blocks), but am tinkering with my boss's 90 N/A RX-7 that he will be giving to his son (unless I can talk him in keeping the RX-7 and give his son is 97 Eclipse).

Here's the issues (IMO), has a high and erratic idle. Depending on how it feels will idle anywhere from 1200-2500 and the rev it chosses it will bounce about 200RPM (I'm accustomed to a max of 1200 and idle down to 800 and be rock steady), and will not idle down until give it some gas and then still bounces abit too much.

Second is burning Oil during start up and acceleration, subsides after is warmed up. What should the oil gauge read, or its postition, at idle?

I have done some reading and have some opinions (OMP, O-rings, BAC, and other sensors) just want second opinions.

i am having the same issue with my 88... I took it in the 'the rotary guy' when i had my engine rebuilt in calgary, and he said that the problem, although not common, is not an issue. since it only happens when the car is between full choke and completely warmed up (usualy like 2-3 mins) and there is no real problem with a bouncy idle, i was told that it would not be worth his time, or my money to acctualy fix. He gave me some bs about the electronic fuel system and the fact that i dont have catalitic converters, which i dont know if i beleve. But after having the car for 4 years, the only thing that the flutter idle has hurt is my ego when i stop and people just gawk. :D

About the oil, sorry... i got no ideas

Bowez, have you checked your ECU codes?

No MIL/CEL, from what I've read all seems to basicly standard operating for a Rotoary.

Currently on my honey moon, so I don't care about it right now. ;)
