Odd problem with fluctuating oil pressure
OK, this is a little odd. I'm running a stock 20B in my 10AE. Last night, while trying to work out some driveability and cooling issues, I noticed that pressure would be around 60psi or so while cruising, but if I stabbed the throttle quickly, my oil pressure would drop WAY down until I let off the throttle.
The thing is, the needle on the gauge (aftermarket) drops almost immediatlely, with practically no delay between me pushing the gas and it going down. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it more likely to be an actual issue or a wiring problem? Any help would be apprectiated! Reese |
the only thing i think could cause it would be the oil moving away from the pickup pipe in the sump due to acceleration. not sure on anything else...could be a wiring issue but im not sure, depends how the gauge is... it could also be due to some channels opening up in the engine due to WOT but i know NOTHING about 20bs so cant comment

My first gen did that and it ended up be a bad bearing. Draining the pan showed bearing parts in the oil.
