not very common starting problem

So I have done some forum/internet searching and have found very few refrences to my problem specificly and no resolution was found either. So here's the initial info

87 s4 na 97k on chasssis
Rebuilt engine from rx7world.com
13b mild street port, polished rotors and upgraded corner seals
Thermowax installed but no vacuum running to or from it (previous owner removed first set of throttle plates)
Aux ports were wired open and sleeves were removed from LIM

The problem: the car will not start unless I hold the accelerator down while cranking. I have reset my timing 3 times and no fix, the car will maimtain idle once statyed and everything sounds good. Once I began to drive the car has almost no power when accelerating from a dead stop. It acts as if it wants to stall but doesn't, sits around 500 rpms till you gqin enough momentum.

Now for the questions. What would cause the vehicle to need the accelerator depressed to crank?

And would the loss of power from a stop be related?

I richened the fuel mixture and it seemed to run a little better from a dead stop but that only lasted for a short time so I'm at a bit of a loss

you may have a faulty switch on your clutch pedal. but im not sure

I have bypassed the neutral safety switch (it broke when I pulled the transmission)

your fuel pump is going,or your filters are clogged up.

or u could have a really bad issue like i did when mine was doing the exact same thing, my 12a decided to let a corner seal spring come out and cause mass destruction lol.. and i always "assume" the worst. so its best to try all the other stuff first lol

Ya,just rule out an Internal problem with a quick compression test.
I had a NA that was hard to start and it was a Front rotor gone..it would run eventually, but you know,,blah.

That's how my 12a was, the front rotor. It would run... kinda lol

Compression was done the day of or the day before I got the engine. At idle she runs strong but once I begin to drive the gremlins come out

It only takes a split second to lose compression lol

then I'd check the fuel system.
