No Compression what now?

my engine had compression 5 months ago,

it was very oily, I washed it with pressurized water and degreaser, I parked it for 5 months,

it froze up. I oiled it and got it turning.

Now there's like very little compression. I'm thinking the apex/side/corner seals are sticking from rust.

what can I do to get it running again?

I'm thinking once its running the seals will free up.

please advise.

Thanks,
Dave

Some one said put ATF inside threw the Sparkplug hole, and it can free it up.. Please dont take my word for it, ask someone about this that has done it...

GOOD LUCK

The ATF trick may work but it is for generally for decarbonizing sticky apex seals---not rust. Put less than a tablespoonful of ATF into each of the trailing plug holes, pull all the plugs (or otherwise keep the plugs from firing) and rotate the engine a few times. Then start the car----preferably somewhere out of town and away from the EPA----The thing is going to smoke like crazy for about 5 to 15 minutes. If it works you will need to replace your spark plugs.

Good Luck

ATF and push starting worked!

This engine had no compression to begin with.
Only one apex seal was giving compression on rotor 2 and rotor 1 was like 3psi bumps on the compression guage.

The engine would not even come close to starting, the plugs would come out all covered in gasoline and there would be a gas smell from the engine after cranking.

I pulled the plugs and squirted ATF into the plug holes using one of those plastic oil hand pumps you find in the auto parts stores for pumping gear oil into your tranny or differential. I put about 1/4 quart in each side while my friend turned the engine with short bursts.

The battery was weak, and I really wanted to "FORCE" this thing to start. So I hooked a tow strap to my truck and had my friend pull the rx7 behind the truck. We got to about 20mph and dropped it in 2nd. The car started up after about 30 yards. It smoked like crazy, so white and thick and noxious you can barely see or breathe.

The engine was running very rough like on one rotor and misfiring badly, wouldn't idle at all. I revved it up, no luck. After it warmed up and about 5 minutes the engine smoothed up and got alot of power. I took it around the block and it hauled ass. It now runs like a new engine!

This was a totally surprising result! and I was very excited and happy to see the outcome. My advice for those with engines that have been sitting and rusted up inside with sticking or dryed up apex seals, to throw ATF on the rotors and try push starting the car. Do it at night time because the amount of smoke is unbelievable.

GOOD LUCK!
Dave
