Newbie question

I know i have been asking questions all over this site. Since I am new member I want to make sure I do things right the first time and make sure I dont end up with a blow motor.

I hear that is is not good to use synthetic in rotary motors because it doesnt have all of the minerals that normal oils have. I have also seen many people running synthetic oil.

My other question is many people use twin Blow off valves. What is the purpose of that. I know if you have a car running very hi-boost that could help, but i have see it on a rx7 with only 16 PSI of boost and stock twins so I was a bit confused.

you can use synthetic
some good brands
are royal purple
idemitsu

as long u do frequent oil changes like 1500 to 2000km
you should be good

I switched over to Lucas non-synthetic a couple of years ago and have been very happy with it. They make damn good stuff...

about the oil-type, do your research. pick an oil and stick with it as best you can. i have traditionally used mineral oils in my rotaries, but i use synthetic (Amsoil) in my Rx-8. i will be using mineral oil when i get the FC going and i'll decide if i want to switch to synthetic at a later date.

as for your dual blow off valve question, i believe the purpose of it is to fight/prevent compressor surge. i can't speak intelligently on the matter (since i never cared to run dual BOVs with my turbo), so i'll leave it at that. hopefully someone else can add more substance.

Ok ok thank you so much for all of the answers. So it is not bad to run synthetic oil, it is just making sure you get a know and trustable brand. I was planning on buying either Idemitsu or amsoil non synthetic.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing about the 2 BOV, but then again it doesnt come down to how many BOVs your are running, but the amount of air it releases compared to how much boost you are building.

What oil weight can i use for a use for a motor with 15K miles after a rebuild?

Again thanks so much for all the answers.

So what kind of oil should i use to change the oil on the car for the first time. I dont know what was used before and i wanted to get something I can pick local at Discount or Napa.

Thanks in advance,
