I have a 3rd gen, and I'm having a coolant seal issue. I've decided to rebuild it myself, so I'd like to do as much research as I can, while saving money, as the car still runs great as it is. This will be my first time rebuilding a rotary (I've rebuilt a few piston motors).

So for someone with no experience building a 13B, could you guys point me in the right direction in gathering information. I've seen a few DVD sets to walk you through the process. Can anyone give input as to the best one?

I want to port the housings while it's apart, but I really have no idea as to how each port behaves. I'm assuming each is aimed at flowing most efficiently at different rpm ranges, streetability, and so forth. Is there some really good articles for reading up about ports? This is obviously for a 13B-rew, so if it were for it more specifically, that'd be even better.

I really want to do this RIGHT the first time, so that I don't look back and wish I had done something else, or gone with a different part. Issues that cross my mind are coolant jacket modifications, dowel-pinning, coatings, the best seals, etc.

So if you guys could start me off in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Any of the videos are good. Most people prefer the Rotary Aviation one, but the Atkins one works just as well.

My suggestion, if you don't have the time or money to rebuild it more than once (back to back), let a shop do it. It's very easy and possible to mess something up where you won't be able to tell there is a problem until you have it back in the car and try to start it. It's also possible to mess something up and have the engine tear itself up. Where as the first time you just needed some coolant and apex seals, the next time you need new housings.
