new rebuild starting problems (94 rx7)

HELP.

I recently rebuild my engine and made a few modifications. I changed all the seals, FC Commander, GT 35/40 single turbo kit, pettit intercooler. I've tried to start it but I'm unable. I've checked the spark, the spark plugs are damp after turning over the car so I think I'm getting fuel. I've checked the sensors which I think they are all correct. I also checked the compression which didn't make me to happy. the front rotor had about 98 psi and the second rotor had about 80 psi. I don't think that is right. The engine should still run. The only thing that I think that it could be is maybe the timing. The FC commander is controlling everything. I don't know if the FC has the right mapping. I would think it would have the stock settings. I'm totally at wits end. Please help.:confused: :mad:

Your compression sucks bro. Sounds to me like you need to rebuild it agian cause it isnt right. ;
Sorry to hear that.

Isnt it a fresh rebuild? Its not going to have any 120 psi, especially if your using old rotor housings, new apex seals need to seat to used rotor housings. Numbers should jump up after break in. And you can start the car with 0 compression on one rotor.

hey, i did a rebuild and my motor had crappy compression to start off with too. it started but just barely. i dont have any of those mods u have but a lot of people said that u have to run your rebuilt engine for like an hour or so to help build up compression. i ran mine at 2500-3000 rpm for about an hour. after i did that the motor started up without any strain. some guys pull/push start it just to get it running and then u can just let it idle. see if this helps. good luck.

Very heartbreaking when that happens. :(

Frsh rebuilds don't have very good compression before they're started. I am sure he appreciates the heart attack though.

Don't listen to the doom and gloom guys here. About half of the posts are correct though, you will have pretty low compression until the seals seat. You probably didn't have enough assembly lube on your seals, low-low compression and now a flooded engine. You should start by removing the plugs, crank the engine a few times to expell some of the fuel, then put some tranny fluid in each chamber, re-install your plugs and start it up. It is best to put your car on jack stands and run it in 3rd gear at about 3500 rpm for the first 5-10 minutes. Turn your fans on too. It will run pretty rough for the first few minutes, don't let it die or you may have to repeat the above. Good luck, it'll work.
