Need some insight! About a motor

Hey fellow rotards been out of the loop for awhile so sorry for the super noob question if it is haha. but correct me if i'm wrong but this motor is a 13bt not a 13b-rew correct? judging from the intake manifold at least

a vehicle importer is claiming that the FC they are selling has a 13b-rew swap i saw the motor and well I don't think it is also given it's still using stock radiator.

Nothing shown indicates a REW swap. Intakes, water pump outlet, accessory pulley system are all 13BT.
The easy test would be to check the mounts. The REW swap needs a custom mounting setup.

That's what I thought! After doing a little more research found the ad when it was still in japan and it has a side ported s6 rotors and housings. Everything else s5...what kind of hp gains would you see from that? I'm guessing not so much but s6 rotor and housings probably handle high hp better?

rotors and rotor housings would not provide any more power. in all the ways that matter S5 rotors and housings are the same as S6.

I see...well I could definitely used this information to bargain the price down.

Thanks guys!

or to walk away from it, if the seller doesn't know what it is or has been done to it then you will never know if it was done right. if someone called that an REW swap, i'd just shake my head.

well, since we're nitpicking :) ... the ad itself sort of made no sense to begin with. side ported rotors and housings? what does that even mean? i understand it could be an honest typo or lack of proofreading, but it could also be the mark of an idiot trying to get over.

side porting is a term japanese use which is the same as saying it's street ported. Also it's a vehicle importer so they have no idea what kind of gem they had lol. I also found the original posting of the vehicle when it was still for sale in japan so I found all the information I needed. Here's the car

and yes that is a full RE-Amemiya kit on that car bumper, hood, skirts, rear bumper, wing, side mirror, wheels, efini seats, and more RE-amemiya interior stuff. t78-33d greddy turbo the works i could go on. I had a local shop who's built rx7's in the past do a pre buy inspection etc etc :egrin:

i guess they're saying it's ported and has beveled/scalloped rotors as well then? well, i never heard that before ... clearly. :) live and learn, i guess.

RXSpeed16 10-27-15 12:57 PM

Looks like a well put together car!

I'm pretty sure you're arguing semantics and sentence structure with google translate at this point. It will be a long time before it understands technical terms like "ported irons" or "scalloped rotors".

diabolical1 10-27-15 02:44 PM

no argument on my part at all, just ignorance. i simply did not know that the Japanese had their own lingo for ports as well. i guess i'm not as much surprised that they have their own terms as i am that it's taken this long for me to get learn it/them.
