need to romove my maniufold
please help with this removal can someone please help me with step by step instructions on how to remove the manufold, i trying to get to my throttle body coolant hose, if you have pics or jut know your sH_t please help! ( THE ROB SITE WAS OF NO HELP TO ME)

Nobody helped you yet? Here is how I do it.
1. Remove the elbow that is connected to the throttle body (4/ 10 mm nuts). 2. At this point you should have access to the lower coolant hose. Use a small pair of pliers and move the lower clip up the hose (assumng you have the stock clamp). Gently twist the hose with the pliers to break the seal it has on the pipe and lift it off with your fingers. 3. Remove the upper coolant hose, and TPS connector below it. (mine is a little tricky, I have to squeeze the tab and gently push it off with a screwdriver). 4. Remove the accelerater cable and cruise control cable by by rotating the linkage to create slack. Using a pair of pliers, squeeze the black clip that holds the cruise control cable to the bracket and remove it. Remove the accelerater cable by either removing the two 10 mm nuts or pulling it out of its bracket. 5. Remove the PC/WG solinoids from the front of the manifold. 6. Now, one at a time remove the vacuum lines marking and numbering them with masking tape (1 goes to 1, 2 goes to 2, and so on). I disconnect them at the checkvalves instead of reaching under the manifold. You can also take a picture with a digital camera if you would rather. 7. Disconnect the wires attached to the rear of the manifold where the engine hanger is. 8. Remove the 12 mm nuts holding the upper to the lower manifold. 9. Manifold should now be free. Lift it up while reaching under and around it to disconnect the electrical connectors. Also remove the remaining vacuum lines marking them as above. That should do it. If I forgot anything, someone will be sure to chime in. Note that I did not remove the throttle body. I can remove mine in about 20-30 minutes now. Be careful tightening the elbow back to the thottle body, as these break easily. I actually leave mine on and disconnect a clamp at the intercooler and pull the entire thing off. Also the 12mm nuts at the manifold are only torqued to 16 ft/lbs. max so use a torque wrench. The center one can be easily stripped of you overdo it. |

thanks so much for the info, im getting this coolant smell from somewere, but i dont have a leak or i cant see any on the ground have you ever heard of this problem, or how often do the go bad i have a 93rx7 with 75,000 miles, i know that its time to get my belts change, just wondering if i had to get those hoses done

Oh man......
There are about a dozen coolant hoses on this car. The upper hose to the TB goes over to the rear housing on the passenger side, there is a short hose that runs from the back of the water pump to the solinoid rack which connects to the lower hose on the TB. And then there are several coolant hoses that go to the turbos. If you still have your airpump, you will not see a couple, maybe more. If I would guess, since you are not seeing any on the ground, but smelling it, it would be some of the hoses around the turbos. These get hot (go figure) and do not last long. So, try and wiggle some of the hoses that you can see to find out if there are any pin hole leaks. Other than that, bite the bullet and get all the hoses replaced. I would hate to guess what the labor would be on this job, but cheaper than a new motor! Mike N. |

IF I DO A PRESSURE TEST WOULD IT FIND EXACTLY WERE HIS LEAK IS MAZDA WANTED LIKE 75 TO 150 JUST TO DO IT. I WAS GOING TO ASK IF YOU KNEW ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM

Yes, a pressure test would do it. So far I know nobody with this problem. (I replaced all my hoses when I replaced my motor).
