Need help for FD (broke a piece removing intake manifold)

Guys, I broke a nipple off this black plastic piece that sits below the intake manifold. I think it is an oil catch of some sort.It is full or was full of carbon. Do I need this piece installed or can I bypass it. I see there are after market oil catch kits is this for the same use? Sorry for no pics but it uses the same bolts as the bottom of the manifold and is about 4 inches long and is cylindrical.

Thanks

hey what's up with the IC?

why don't you reply my pm?

any oil catch can will do.

bypassing it will get oil in your intake, it might not be bad for a small period but get one eventually, they putted it there for a reason. The oil might fool the sensor in the manifold too.

it might get stuck in the check valve and the solenoid which means that you would have to replace them.

The piece you are talking about is part of the purge control system. (This system helps to burn fumes from the gas tank that are released when the car is off by spritzing them into the intake).

I don't know exactly what the point of that little tank is, but I'd assume that it's some sort of liquid trap...

Anyone know exactly why it's there?

Thanks Guys. When I look at the diagram for the vac hoses it shoes that the one end goes to a solenoid with 2 conections on the bottom, my car has a solenoid with only 1 connection? Maybe it was already broken!

Puma, got your PM no worries.

Rotary Xecret has a Greddy oil catch for 90.00. Is this used to replace the plastic piece,or is it used for addtional oil catching?

Thanks guys
