need help fast !!! - counterweight
I need your help fast !
I must remove the counterweight from a S5 auto engine ! In the FSM, it says that I need a special puller to remove it .... Is there anyway to remove it without the special tool ? If I remove theses 6 bolts (picture), is everything gonna come off ??? Thanks ! http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...DSC01059-1.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...r/DSC01058.jpg[/ |
You have all the bolts off that you need to remove. Those other bolts hold the rear gear in the engine, don't remove them. Any 2 armed puller will work if you grab the thing right by where it gets wider for the counter balance part. The trick is to BE VERY CAREFUL to not booger up the threads on the e shaft. What I have done is thread the eshaft nut on till its almost flush with the thread end(you may even want to thread it on backwards) Then use the extra surface area to put an extra piece of steel in between the eshaft and the puller, anything that can handle the pressure and you don't care about putting a dent in it with the puller. Then just tighten up the puller till it pops.

I'll try !
thanks ! |
Put the flywheel nut back on.
Wail on it with a hammer. Be careful not to hit any of the threads or yourself! It should come off in a few whacks. If it doesn't, you're not swinging hard enough. -Ted |
