Need help diagnosing sound from carb!

Recently I've been noticing some kind of "knocking"/rotating friction kind of sound coming from the carb while idling. I don't have it uploaded on Youtube, however there is a video of the engine idling on my Instagram page (@rotary_eleanor). If necessary I will try to upload to YouTube. I already reached out on social media, and someone suggested it was a bad rotor bearing. My page is public, so it shouldn't be difficult getting to the video. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Info: 12A w stock Nikki, 151k. Always using Castrol GTX and changing oil every 2k. Present vacuum leak in carb, choke diaphragm #2 I think is stuck either open or closed.

No sir. I don't think it's trans related. Comes and goes as it spins, even at high RPMs. If y'all looked at my Instagram video, I'll put up another one of it running even funnier tonight. Seems to be coming from the carb side towards the front. My idle is consistent and my exhaust note doesn't have rhythmic popping.

Bump! Can anyone help? Please?! :(

bad bearings in water pump might make that sound. i'd remove all the belts to rule out any accessories.

The only thing I can think of ..and it's strictly a guess is a thing called a shutter valve..
You'll have to do more research on it..as I said,it's a guess.

Did you figure out what is making the noise?

hat.paradox 09-21-17 10:50 AM

Hey everyone. Thanks for your help and input!!

One of my coworkers and I looked at it and listened all around for the noise. Doesn't come from engine, and sounds like a really bad grinding bearing. It nearly sounds the same on all belt driven components, but it's the loudest at the alternator (slightly).

Funny thing about that is I replaced my alt eight months ago and now it's crapping out on me :( So much for Advanced remanned alts :/

My alternator was getting really, really warm as well, almost like walking barefoot on asphalt on a sunny day, that kind of hot.

I'll see about getting it replaced (should be under warranty) as I foolishly sent my core back (but I got $20 extra!). If that doesn't help it, then I'll try to update.
